Internet of Things (IoT) in Everyday Life: ESP32 Wi-Fi Telemetry for Kids

Connecting the Physical and Digital Worlds

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to physical objects equipped with sensors, processing ability, and wireless connectivity to exchange data over networks. With affordable microcontrollers like the ESP32, school students can build functional smart room projects.

Project Showcase: Smart Classroom Environment Monitor

During our intermediate IoT workshop, students wired a DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor alongside an MQ-135 air quality probe to an ESP32 board. Within 30 lines of code, the system pushed real-time room metrics to a cloud dashboard accessible from any parent smartphone.

Understanding Client-Server Communication

Students learn protocols like HTTP GET/POST and MQTT in simple visual terms: the sensor is a client publishing data, and the cloud dashboard is a subscriber visualizing changes via interactive gauges.
